OSU Experience

Years of Service:8
Classification: CCS
I also used to work for: Biomedical Engineering Department and the Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute

Why I joined USAC:

My interest began about six years ago when I learned about USAC from a former co-worker and member. Her dedication and commitment left a mark that inspired me to become a member to advocate for staff, expand my knowledge about OSU, and participate in campus-wide events.

Why staff should join USAC:

If you want to have a unique opportunity to belong to a group that puts the 'team' in teamwork, campaign for staff, support campus activities and have FUN doing it, then USAC is the committee for you!

My greatest sense of accomplishment on USAC so far is:

So far, my greatest sense of accomplishment has been making connections with new and existing members and learning about the overall mission of USAC. I'm also very excited about the work I'll be doing on the Staff Compensation and Benefits Subcommittee.

Hobbies:

I enjoy interior decorating, and a bit of gardening. I love amusement parks, especially roller coasters. My partner and I enjoy socializing and entertaining at home. And, oh yes-I'm a HUGE FAN of IKEA!!!

My favorite restaurant around campus is:

Eddie George's Grille

My favorite OSU sport is:

A combination of women's basketball, baseball, and football.

I think the greatest challenge facing OSU in the future is:

As the costs of living, fuel, and other essential necessities continue to rise, initiatives may need to be implemented to create a greater balance between home and work life. Staff compensation and healthcare costs are also crucial and ongoing challenges.

I think the greatest strengths at OSU are:

OSU has a large and diverse student body as well as faculty who work hard to help students achieve their academic goals. There are a number of great benefits available for staff to take advantage of. OSU is also a melting pot of networking opportunities.

Outside of my normal position, I serve OSU and my community by:

I volunteer at the Columbus Literacy Council where I tutor adult learners. It's extremely rewarding to inspire and empower others to become more self-sufficient. I also volunteer for Stonewall at the Pride festival. In addition to that, I'll begin the part-time Master of Labor and Human Resources program this fall at Fisher College of Business.
