OSU Experience

Years of Service:11.5
Classification: A&P
I also used to work for: Ten years with the West Regional Operations of OSU Extension. A year and « with the OSU College of Public Health.

Why I joined USAC:

To take a more active role in supporting faculty and staff at The Ohio State University by serving as a grassroots representative. Working in the counties for OSU Extension has enabled me to get a pulse on statewide issues for employees. Since I am relatively new to main campus, USAC is a way to meet colleagues across campus, work interdisciplinary across departments, and outreach into the Columbus community.

Why staff should join USAC:

To better acquaint oneself with the inner workings of a large public institution of higher learning and one of the top ten employers in the state of Ohio. USAC plays an active role in the welfare of employees by planning activities to generate morale and self confidence, and serves as a direct communications link to the Office of the President.

My greatest sense of accomplishment on USAC so far is:

It's too soon to tell. Just making the team was a major accomplishment to me and my peers.

Hobbies:

I am musically inclined and have been since childhood, whether it is playing the piano, singing in a choir, or listening to a rock concert, the symphony, or a band show.

My favorite restaurant around campus is:

Cap City Diner. My college friends and I go there on the holidays and special occasions (like end of quarter finals) to unwind. I have yet to find a restaurant in Columbus that I don't like.

My favorite OSU sport is:

I am an avid OSU football fan and season ticket holder. As a graduate student, there are a few perks that come with the part like cheaper ticket prices, better seats, and 110,000 cheering fans surrounding you in the Horseshoe.

I think the greatest challenge facing OSU in the future is:

I feel that going to college is becoming a luxury more and more for today's students. The Ohio State University is positioning itself to be one of the top tier research institutions in the country and I fully support that. But does that diminish the opportunity for the common man to attend college after high school like the land-grant university was first intended?

I think the greatest strengths at OSU are:

Tradition - Reputation - Exemplar Academics - BDFITL - and a winning season J

Outside of my normal position, I serve OSU and my community by:
