18th Annual Staff Arts and Crafts Exhibit
Co-sponsored by the Office of Human Resources and the University Staff Advisory Committee (USAC), this exhibit showcased the creative, artistic talents of many of the Ohio State staff members. The university president and the vice presidents selected their favorite entries, to which they awarded a ribbon.
The event was held:
August 20, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Bricker Hall, 2nd floor lobby
Artwork was on display in Bricker Hall until October 2nd.
The popular People's Choice Award returned again this year as well as a few other awards which were announced during artwork entry. Staff voted for their favorite entry from August 20 through September 11. The entry garnering the majority of votes earned the People's Choice Award ribbon, and was announced the week of September 14.
This year’s People’s Choice Award went to Jose Diaz’s Mi Casa, Su Casa, the handcrafted wooden miniature house equipped with furnishings and accessories – so very cool! Jose works as a Research Assistant in the Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology Department. The People have spoken.
We also awarded a few new Choice Awards this year, the Committee’s Choice, Curator’s Choice and Editor’s Choice Awards, which were designated with white ribbons. The Committee’s Choice was Michael Mercier’s A Knight’s Chair. The Curator’s Choice was Pat Balassone’s Beach Collage. And the Editor’s Choice was Geoffrey Taber’s Hemisphere. These pieces, along with the President’s Award winner, Carolyn Speicher’s Elizabethan Noble Woman’s Gown and the People’s Choice Award winner was featured in an exhibition space in the Schottenstein Center lobby area on October 10, during pre-game festivities of the OSU versus Wisconsin football game.
