USAC presents annual SCBS report
Emily Meyer and Dave Fleming, chair and member respectively of USAC's Staff Compensation & Benefits Subcommittee, presented the group's annual report to university leadership on May 14, 2012. President Gordon Gee, Provost Joe Alutto, Senior Vice President & CFO Geoff Chatas, and Vice President of Human Resources Kathleen McCutcheon were present to hear the findings and recommendations of seven staff focus groups conducted by USAC.
Focus group responses were organized into five themes: opportunities for professional growth, the impact of unit administration and supervisors, doing more with less, communication and transparency, and employment benefits.Specific recommendations to leadership were provided for each theme.
Gee complimented the presenters and commented that he supported each recommendation and felt that all could likely be implemented in time. Alutto suggested that prior to next year's SCBS presentation, the leadership report to USAC as to the state of the five recommendations.
According to Meyer, "USAC members were struck by the decrease in staff satisfaction shown in the 2011 OHR Faculty and Staff Survey. We've spent the past year exploring possible reasons behind that change and today we had the opportunity to share our findings with university leadership. We were pleased that staff concerns and USAC recommendations for the future were so well received by them."
