In your own words, describe your job here at Ohio State.  In a dual role, I celebrate and amplify the holistic student-athlete experience by providing athletic academic, personal and professional support to facilitate student success, growth and impact. Working with elite student-athletes, coaches and staff is a commitment to inclusive excellence in creating and holding space for equity and access within sport and higher education in an ever-evolving landscape.  

What do you love most about Ohio State:   I love the opportunity to be challenged and surrounded by The People of Ohio State.  In my professional capacity or as a first year doctoral student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs EdD program, the power of proximity has been affirmed in my own journey of lifelong learning and consciousness of self. 

What is your favorite memory as a staff member at Ohio State:   Witnessing the dedication, grind and heart work of the Women’s Ice Hockey team and program in winning the 2022 NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey National Championship 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work:   Long walks with my English Bulldog, Rhino and being in community with friends and family 

What is something that most people don’t know about you:   I am exceptional at assembling Ikea furniture

Alex has truly embodied the values of excellence & impact as well as diversity & innovation in her current role. As an academic counselor and student athlete engagement coordinator in the Student Athlete Support Services Office, Alex has expanded the reach of the office to include more diverse identities and activities for student athletes outside of their sport.  Alex started the first LGBTQ+ student athlete organization in Ohio State Athletics history and the group has thrived under her leadership.  Alex provides a unique perspective to all seeking to work with student athletes in reminding everyone that they are more than just the sport they choose to play. Her impact can be seen in how much her students enjoy her presence and seek out her counsel. She leads with grace, creativity and kindness!
