Subcommittees

USAC advances its mission through four standing subcommittees, each responsible for a core area of staff experience and shared governance. This structure supports focused work while maintaining coordinated action across the full committee.
Governance Subcommittee
The Governance Subcommittee focuses on strengthening staff representation and participation in shared governance across the university. The subcommittee oversees USAC appointments to University Senate and other university‑wide committees and advocates for increased and meaningful staff voice within institutional decision‑making.
Outreach and Engagement Subcommittee
The Outreach and Engagement Subcommittee leads efforts to connect staff with USAC and its work across the university and medical center. This includes outreach to local Staff Advisory Committees and Employee Resource Groups and facilitating two‑way communication that promotes awareness, trust, and engagement.
Staff Affairs Subcommittee
The Staff Affairs Subcommittee addresses policies and practices that affect the day‑to‑day staff experience, including compensation, benefits, workplace resources, and well‑being. A central focus of this work is the Staff in the Spotlight program, which recognizes two staff members each month through USAC communications for excellence in their roles.
Workplace Culture and Community Subcommittee
The Workplace Culture and Community (WCC) Subcommittee ensures that varied staff perspectives are represented as USAC carries out its mission to amplify staff voices and support Ohio State as a workplace of choice. By assessing workplace climate and advocating for meaningful recommendations that promote well‑being, professional development, and connection, the subcommittee helps ensure staff feel valued, supported, and heard across the institution.
